Ron Paul on Warmongering and the Cost of Energy

'Today the Dow Jones Average was down 350-some points, gold was up $32, and oil was up another $5. There is a lot of chaos out there and everyone is worried about $4 gasoline. But I don’t think there is a clear understanding exactly about why that has occurred. We do know that there is a supply and demand issue, but there are other reasons for the high cost of energy.'

Article: Ralph Nader, White Guilt and Black Nationalism

'Very early on in this election cycle I realized that Obama's skin color was a huge drawing card for yuppies and hipster, liberal, youth desperate to feel good about themselves by voting for a member of the "oppressed underclass". As Nader notes, Obama is the best of both worlds for voters like this. Obama's blackness allows them to pull the lever for "social responsibility" and "diversity" without having to vote for a populist or "small d" democrat, that might challenge the managerial elite they so desperately cling to.'

New York Woman Sentenced for Slavery

'A wealthy New York woman has been sentenced to 11 years in jail for keeping two Indonesian women as slaves. Varsha Mahender Sabhnani, 46, and her husband Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, 51, kept them as slaves and abused them physically and psychologically. The couple had been found guilty on 12 charges in December, including involuntary servitude, harbouring aliens and forced labour.'

While individuals are so quick to make baseless, historically-inaccurate accusations concerning the motives for Southron independence, perhaps they should turn their attention to today's North (New York, in this case).  Slavery rears its ugly head to this day in the so-called "enlightened" Northern States and other countries around the globe.  If one were truly concerned about ending slavery, shouldn't the focus be on doing so today - instead of morphing a moot issue into a tool to hide the truth?

Chaffetz's Win a GOP 'Wake-up Call' on Immigration

In Utah, six term Congressman 'Cannon was trounced by Jason Chaffetz, the former chief of staff to Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. Cannon lost to Chaffetz by 20 percentage points, 60 percent to 40 percent. Cannon becomes the third member of Congress to lose in his own party’s primary in this election cycle.... Chaffetz is near-guaranteed to become the next congressman from Utah’s 3rd District, which is one of the most Republican districts in the country.... Immigration was the driving factor behind Cannon’s unpopularity with the district’s Republican base, and Tuesday’s results may serve as a reminder to Republican candidates across the country that immigration remains a vital issue for the GOP faithful.... Despite tallying near-perfect scores from the American Conservative Union, Cannon alienated border security hawks over the past several years with his belief that illegal immigrants should be eligible for certain government benefits.'

Mexican Gangs Bring in 500,000 Aliens Yearly

'An estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants from South America, the Caribbean and Central America pay Mexican gangs to help them transit Mexico and cross into the United States every year, Mexico's National Human Rights Commission said Wednesday. This illegal trade brings "extraordinary earnings" since each person pays 4,000 to 15,000 dollars. In total, this would mean some 2 to 7.5 billion dollars a year, the commission said. An armed commando stopped Mexican authorities transporting 37 illegal migrants to an immigration center, and disappeared with many of them. Eighteen of the group later resurfaced in the US.'

Communist Castro Hits EU's 'Brutal' Immigration Policy

'Fidel Castro on Friday slammed an EU decision lifting diplomatic sanctions against Cuba but imposing tough human rights conditions, calling it an "enormous hypocrisy in light of Europe's new rules on illegal immigration. The ailing 81-year-old former leader, who handed power over to his younger brother Raul in February, said in an online essay that the EU has no right to lecture Cuba on human rights given what he called the "brutal" immigration policy.'

As we at SLMNews have discussed, there are a number of Third-World tyrants who have been especially vocal in their criticism of measures to crack down on the invasion, especially those recently adopted by the European Union.  Aside from Evo Morales, the Bolivian Lincoln, none other than Fidel Castro has been quick to do just that.  This should come as no surprise, as such politicians from Latin America and elsewhere have long sought to divert attention away from their failures at home by essentially sanctioning illegal immigration and then refuting the right of a government to curtail and end it.  As the European Union indicated, Castro and his government have long abused Cuban citizens, which clearly explains this attempted smokescreen.  May the people of Dixie and the rest of the world see through these lies and the agenda for which they were created!

GOP Congressman Loses Primary over Immigration Support

'Republican voters in Utah ousted Rep. Chris Cannon in Tuesday’s GOP primary, expressing their dissatisfaction with the six-term congressman over his left-of-center positions on immigration by nominating a challenger who made crackdowns on illegal immigration a central part of his platform.... Cannon was trounced by Jason Chaffetz, the former chief of staff to Gov. Jon Huntsman (R-Utah.) With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Cannon trails Chaffetz by 20 points – 60 to 40 percent. Immigration has become a contentious issue in Utah, where a growing number of Hispanic immigrants have changed the hue of the once-homogenous state. The Mormon Church, as part of its missionary outreach, has welcomed and aided the influx of immigrants. But other Utahns expressed concerns about the strains immigrants have placed on social services, particularly crowded classrooms and swamped health care providers.'

'Maryland State Police say a traffic stop near Hagerstown resulted in the arrests of 10 suspected illegal immigrants. Autonomy Vote Passes Easily in Bolivia

As MDSonOfTheSouth has covered the struggle in Bolivia between the eastern provinces and the pro-Marxist central regime before here on SLMNews, here is an update on recent happenings there.

'Bolivia's gas-rich Tarija province has voted overwhelmingly in favour of greater autonomy, exit polls suggest. About 80% of the voters backed the measure in a referendum, several pollsters said. The result is being seen as a rejection of President Evo Morales' drive to redistribute wealth in South America's poorest nation. Tarija is the fourth province to back greater autonomy. The central government says the polls are illegal.'

NC History Museum Acquires Confederate Battleflag

'The [NC] state History Museum has acquired a Confederate battle flag carried by the North Carolina regiment responsible for accidentally shooting Lt. Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.... Museum officials say they didn't know the flag existed until they got a letter from its owner in 1992. In 1993, Dr. Tom Walsh of New Jersey loaned the flag to the museum. He recently offered to donate a partial value of the flag to the museum, which purchased the remaining value in May.'

McCain Promises Amnesty to Hispanic Groups if Elected

'On Wednesday night, McCain held a private meeting with more than 150 Chicago, Illinois-area Hispanic leaders. According to The Associated Press, several people who were at the meeting said McCain assured them that he would push for comprehensive immigration reform if he's elected president. In 2007, McCain's sponsorship of comprehensive immigration reform angered conservatives and very nearly derailed his presidential campaign.'

Raising the Colours - 'Not What I Expected,' Says Fox News

'So there it was, white and black folks, some sitting on cinder blocks, smoking pipes. One elderly African American man wearing a suit and a Confederate tie, back-slapping and joking with a younger Caucasian man wearing so many Confederate symbols, he looked like the poster child for the event. The local NAACP has called these Confederate flag-supporting blacks “out of touch,” saying they don’t represent black America. I asked the older black man in the Confederate tie, what he thought about the NAACP’s comment, he said “I’m about as black as it gets, I’m the grandson of slaves, I’m a U.S. war veteran, and I’m just as proud of this (Confederate) flag, because it represents my heritage too. And the NAACP doesn’t represent all of black America either.”'

South Carolina Executes Convicted Killer

'Convicted killer James Earl Reed was executed Friday after the U.S. Supreme Court denied his last-minute request for a stay... He was the first person to die in South Carolina's electric chair since 2004. State Wants Better Tracking of Illegal Immigrants in Prisons

'South Carolina's prisons hold 369 illegal immigrants serving sentences for killing, raping, robbing and other offenses, a population that has nearly doubled in the past five years, according to state prison officials. Officials say they may not be the only illegals in the prisons because the system relies mostly on inmates to tell them their immigration status when they are admitted, raising questions about whose job it is to determine their status and what happens when they're freed after serving their sentences. The prison system held 171 illegal residents in 2003, when 21 served time for homicide and 16 were sentenced for sexual assaults, the prison data shows. The 369 illegals come from 33 countries, according to prison data, though most were born in Mexico.'

This broken system is putting us all at risk by allowing violent criminal aliens to wonder our towns and roads. More sexual preditors, killers and robbers - just a few of the 'benefits' of open-borders. But as long as businesses have cheap foreign labour, that's the important thing, right?
