Article: Obama's Southern Hopes

'A WashPost blog called "Behind the Numbers" has thrown cold water on an Associated Press projection "that if Barack Obama lives up to his pledge to boost African American turnout by 30 percent, he would score big wins across the south (sic!)."'

Notice that in the quote from the Washington Post which the article revolves around they do not capitalise the 'South' as a proper noun of a distinct place and culture. In the mass media today this is a common trend. You will almost never see 'Southern' capitalised as it used to be in days gone by, for example. This is because to the Feds and their cheerleaders in the press our homeland is just a poor 'region' of their vast - nearly global - empire.

Article: Getting Serious about 'Getting Serious'

'It's just nice to share the popular feeling of being personally burdened by the invasion across our southern border. My fellow supporters of unrestricted immigration, who spend all their time being chauffeured between undocumented-nanny-cleaned mansions and illegal-janitor-tended Ivory Towers, forget the degree to which immigration-restriction pressure is driven by a feeling of injustice, in particular by suspicions of condescension and neglect from aloof authorities.'

SCV Leader Arrested for Displaying the Confederate Flag

'Kentucky Division Lieutenant Commander [of the Sons of Confederate Veterans] Bazz Childress was briefly arrested Thursday night for the horrible crime of hanging a Battle Flag in his hotel room window. The action was taken at the belligerent behest of the owner of the Wingate Wyndham. Immediately SCV guests of the hotel began cancelling their stays....'

Battle Rages Over Confederate Icon

'The Sons of Confederate Veterans say there are no concrete plans in South Carolina to fight the NAACP's renewed call for the Confederate battle flag to come off Statehouse grounds, but at least one group member gave his opinion on what needs to happen. Division Lt. Commander Donald Gordon said Wednesday that he wants the group to place the flag along South Carolina highways and on visible properties across the state to send a message. "We're proud of being Southern," Gordon said. "Every time they complain, we're going to erect a flag," said Gordon, who later clarified that the position has not yet been officially endorsed by the group.'

Indeed, we are, Mr Gordon. You have got the right idea, sir!

Article: Merging U.S. with Mexico

'President Bush’s open borders policy is a defacto merger with Mexico. Is it a quest for white sandy beaches or cheap labor? There has never been a public call for annexing Mexico, and conversely Congress has funded legislation to secure the border. Despite a voter rebellion last summer that closed the capitol switchboard in opposition to his Guest Worker/Amnesty bill, Bush continues to unlawfully flood the country with low wage workers, allowing an estimated ten thousand illegals to enter the country daily.'

US Slips Down Development Index

'Americans live shorter lives than citizens of almost every other developed nation, according to a report from several US charities. The report found that the US ranked 42nd in the world for life expectancy despite spending more on health care per person than any other country. Overall, the American Human Development Report ranked the world's richest country 12th for human development.'

McCain Claims Victory in No-Win War

'John McCain took a rhetorical baby step toward declaring victory in Iraq on Thursday, arguing emphatically that "we have succeeded in Iraq." "I repeat my statement that we have succeeded in Iraq," McCain told reporters aboard his campaign bus in Kansas City. "Not 'We are succeeding.' We have succeeded in Iraq."

To being with, there never was anything to win in Iraq. The big mission was to kill Hussein, which was carried out a while back. Other than killing the former dictator, what else has the occupation of Iraq done? It has brought destabilisation to the entire region. It has led to a civil war in Iraq with the country now split into three large sectarian groups dead set on oppressing and killing the other factions. It has wasted billions and billions of American taxpayer dollars - our grandchildren will still be paying for this failed venture in all likelihood. It has caused the death of several thousand American soldiers (a disproportionate number of them Southrons) - to say nothing of the perhaps 100,000 or more Iraqis it has killed. It has made enemies of many former American allies around the globe. Yes, it is true that the US military has built some schools, plants, roads and government buildings over there. But at what cost? And how does that equal success? Talk about out of touch!

Online Poll About the SC Confederate Flag

A news station in South Carolina has a poll out which asks 'Do you believe the condfederate (sic!) flag should be removed from Statehouse grounds?' And, yes, we couldn't help but notice that they not only mis-spelled 'Confederate' but also failed to capitalise the word.

Alabama 'Blue Dog' Democrat vs Establishment Republican

In a normally safe seat in Alabama for the Republicans, the Democrats may have a shot this Fall thanks to having nominated a social conservative - Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright. The Mayor is a strong supporter of gun rights, balanced budgets and is pro-life. He caused a stir a few years ago by suggesting that Montgomery citizens fight crime by buying and using guns (click here for that story). Now he is running for Congress and he just got the nod from the Blue Dog Coalition (click here for this news story).

'Bright has been touting his socially conservative pedigree and a record of balancing budgets while keeping a distance from his party’s presidential nominee in a district where Barack Obama is not viewed favorably. “This is a guy who defies party, and he has a lot to say about the rejuvenation of Montgomery,” said Bright’s pollster, John Anzalone. “Jay Love [his GOP opponent] is going to try and make Bobby out to be some liberal, while in reality he’s a conservative guy. He’s pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and he’s balanced every budget he’s ever had.”'

Latinos Sue Sheriff Joe Arpaio for 'Racial Profiling'

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Phoenix, Arizona'A group of Hispanic activists in Arizona filed a lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Wednesday, alleging the lawman uses racial profiling in controversial sweeps to round up illegal immigrants. Arpaio began the patrols in mostly Hispanic communities in the Phoenix valley last year. His deputies stop people and arrest anyone who cannot prove legal U.S. residency.'

We salute Sheriff Joe for his strong, patriotic stand against the invasion and wish him the best of luck defending himself against this ridiculous charge. The Sheriff should be awarded for his service - not hauled into court by invaders.

SC Sons of Confederate Vets Backing Down Against the NAACP?

We reported good news yesterday - that the South Carolina SCV was meeting the NAACP's attacks on our heritage directly with a campaign to put Confederate flags up around Columbia. Apparently this is not their plan though. And the words from SCV leadership in SC seem to hint at a less aggressive tactic. Hopefully this is not the case. The Florida SCV is blazing the trail in this area by putting up large, highly visible Confederate flags around the State - now is the time for others to catch on.

'Randy Burbage, who leads South Carolina members in the Sons of Confederate Veterans, said the group’s officials will consider proposed responses to the NAACP actions when they meet in two weeks. "We’re weighing different options," he said. "We always respond to attacks on our heritage, and we feel like that’s what this is." He said he was "not at liberty" to describe what was being considered, but he denied the comments of another officer earlier in the day who said the organization planned to raise flags across the state in response to the NAACP’s latest campaign to remove the flag. "That’s not true," he said. "He misspoke on that. There’s no plan to do that. I’m puzzled as to why he even said that. He’s not the spokesman for the organization. I’ve already spoken to him today, and he admitted that he misspoke on that."'

John McCain to Meet with the NAACP

'Sen. John McCain is looking to close a wide divide on race as he speaks before the NAACP convention Wednesday.... Aides say that... addressing the NAACP, is part of McCain's broader, different-kind-of-Republican pitch.... A New York Times/CBS News poll conducted July 7-14 found that black voters favor Obama over McCain, 89 to 2 percent.'

First he met with La Raza and now it is the NAACP - it would seem McCain is doing his best to completely alienate the conservative base. And for what?

Drug Smugglers Bribing Federal Agents on Mexican Border

'U.S. Border Patrol agent Reynaldo Zuniga was arrested last month lugging a bag of cocaine up from the Rio Grande, one of a growing number of law enforcement officers accused of taking bribes from drug gangs. Former colleagues say Zuniga used to wait until agents in the south Texas town of Harlingen were distracted with paperwork, then slip down to the river and help smuggle in drugs from Mexico.'

More Fear-mongering from the Feds on the Border Fence

The Federal Government, in its campaign to convince Americans that a secure border is impossible or undesirable, is out with more dire predictions related to the congressionally-approved border fence. 'The U.S.-Mexico border fence will make life harder on some South Texas farmers, damage valuable wildlife habitat, impair views and generally become an obstacle to border life, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged in an environmental study of the fence's impact.'

We Southrons are essentially the only ones who truly care for our native land and our farmers.  Those speaking on farmers' and nature's 'behalf' rarely do so in a genuine or altruistic sense.  We Southrons wish nothing but the best for our farmers and wildlife and do all we can to see to that, but such rhetoric is merely a ploy to only further slow efforts against the invasion.  The last time I checked, land 'development' by yankees is not 'eco-friendly,' and where have they been for these and other farmers in the past?  I'm sure those hundreds of holes in the fence won't be a weakness to its effectiveness at all either....

Financial 'Super Cop' Role for the Federal Reserve

'In capitalist America, the idea that financial markets are best left alone has been dearly held. And it has helped make America rich. But the bomb-shell of the near collapse of investment bank Bear Stearns and the credit crunch has exploded some of that confidence in self-policing markets. Now, the financial system here in the United States could get its biggest shake-up since the Great Depression of 1933.... the former academic [chairman of the Fed Mr Bernanke) seems determined to exert greater power over America's complex financial system and perhaps it will earn him a new nickname - the Fed's super cop.'

Another unconstitutional power grab by the Federal Reserve - the semi-private institution which lords over our economy. The fact is, Fed policy is largely responsible for the housing and banking crisis to begin with. Now that they have made a mess of everything, they are going to be given (or simply take for themselves) even more powers to 'fix thing?' Wow, that's logical. This is a little like handing a child a hammer to play with after they have just smashed an expensive lamp.

Confederate Flag Rally in Jacksonville, FL Against BJ's

On July 12, 2008 Southron patriots met in Jacksonville to hold a Confederate flag rally and protest against the discriminatory policies of BJ's (which has banned Confederate flags on employees' vehicles). The following is a description of the events as well as a picture taken from the rally. More pictures will be able to be seen in an upcoming SLMN video about BJ's, Mr Tillet, and the flag rally.

'The flag rally in support of Mr Tillet went pretty well. About 21 folks showed up. We met outside the old Publix and then drove to the BJ's warehouse on Blanding where we got both some good and bad looks from people. We all had a good time supporting Mr Tillet. We hope to do it again in the next coming month or two.' Don't miss the next rally!

NAACP Meets in Cincinnati, Targets SC Confederate Flag

'NAACP leaders meeting in Cincinnati say they will step up their campaign against flying of the Confederate battle flag on state grounds in South Carolina. Dennis Courtland Hayes, interim president and CEO, said Monday at the civil rights organization's national convention that action plans are in the works and to stay tuned for details.'

Whenever the NAACP needs donations and to 'rally the troops' this is their fall-back issue. The fact that they met many hundreds of miles away and talked about removing a flag in another State reinforces the feeling of many Southrons that what is going on is nothing less than cultural genocide.

Article: Obama, McCain, and Financial Disaster

'This year, federal spending will exceed federal revenue by more than $400 billion. Given the weak state of the economy, the deficit will get worse before it gets better. Actually, it may never get better, because the current shortfall coincides with the start of the most dreaded fiscal event of all time: the retirement of the baby boomers, who will soon consume eye-popping amounts in Social Security and Medicare.'

Neo-Con Diplomacy?

'Last week, McCain was asked about an Associated Press report that the U.S. exported $158 million worth of cigarettes to Iran during the Bush administration in spite of restrictions on U.S. imports. "Maybe that's a way of killing them," McCain said. He then said that he was joking.'

Repeatedly joking about the death of millions of people (remember McCain's 'Bomb-bomb-bomb-Iran' song on the campaign trail?) is perhaps one of the more repugnant aspects of the Neo-Cons. This sort of war-mongering only increases the likelihood of confrontation.

TN School Confederate Flag Controversy Set for Trial

'A federal district court has refused to grant a preliminary injunction against a flag-display ban in Anderson County, Tenn., public schools in a case involving a former student. One of the most divisive symbols in public life and public schools is the Confederate flag. Its proponents extol it as a symbol of a proud heritage; opponents counter that it represents hate and racial supremacy. Public school officials across the country have found themselves embroiled in legal controversies when they punish students who wear Confederate flag clothing.'

All bans on Dixie's St Andrew's Cross must be met and challenged across our homeland. Suffer no offence from our enemies, folks.
