'Many in the [S]outh have noticed an increase in the number
of immigrants, especially from the [S]tate of Ohio. Not since the years after the Second War of Independence (the War of Northern
Aggression) have so many Yankees brought their way of life and horrible driving so far [S]outh. They stay far longer than
the allotted welcome generally tendered to seasonal tourists. They take our jobs and harass our women. They also take up all
the parking at the beach and try rather ineptly to surf (Ohio kooks are the worst of all). We understand that there are no
doubt good reasons to leave Ohio (see the Ohio facts section), but everyone needs to develop some sort of pride in their beginnings,
however humble or terrible. All we ask is that they return from whence they came.'
'About 10,000 South Carolina homes were without power, mostly
in the Myrtle Beach area, Becker said. He also said 15 shelters housed 444 South Carolina residents. In North Carolina, nearly
12,000 homes were without electricity, mostly in the counties nearest to where Hanna made landfall, according to State Emergency
Management spokesman Mark Van Sciver.'
Recently SLMN has made quite a few improvements. These include:
a complete overhaul of the 'Audio page' (now topically-based), several additions to the 'Graphics page' (including
new flashing pictures), and a new 'Ulster, Ulster-Scots & Dixie' page (which includes most of the materials gathered
on SLMN's recent trip abroad).
First the Feds, Now the Iraqis to Fund Sunni Fighters in Baghdad
'He [Major John Hall, US military spokesman] said Baghdad alone has
around 54,000 Sahwa members under contract to the US military, and these are expected to be transferred to the government
on October 1. "The first payment by the government of Iraq will be November 1, 2008. The current average
monthly cost of these 54,000 SoIs is 15 million dollars," Hall added.'
Have the leaders of this empire
learned anything from the past? A resounding 'NO!' should come to mind. Remember that the federal government
financed, trained, and provided weapons and other supplies to Al-Qaeda in the 1980s to fight the Soviet Union, ultimately
trading one enemy for another. It's important to note that these Sunni fighters have been financed by Washington
since 2006, and the federal government will still be paying for these fighters everywhere else in Iraq - with our money.
The use of mercenaries is a sure sign of an overextended, dying empire.
'The US unemployment rate jumped in July to a four-year high of 5.7
per cent. Many economists predict the jobless rate will climb a notch higher - to 5.8 per cent - when the government releases
the August employment figures on Friday. More job losses also are expected.'
This empire's corrupt,
wasteful, and unnecessary (for anything but to control) policies of 'intervention' in every aspect of life, in this
case the economy, do not solve problems, but rather create them. What are the results of the socialism coming
from Washington, District of Criminals? That's right - higher food prices, higher fuel prices, fewer jobs.
May we Southrons free ourselves of this nonsense!
Murray Rothbard: 'War for Southern Independence' was 'Just'
'Murray N Rothbard is probably the most recognized mind behind
the modern resurgence of Jeffersonianism and libertarianism, and is a brilliant communicator of austrian economics in the
tradition of Ludwig von Mises.'
Here is a quote from Mr Rothbard, a New Yorker:
'The idea that the Union was somehow perpetual
and eternal is ridiculous... And yet of course this is the illogic - this monstrous illogic - was the argument of the North
as to why the South could not secede... In 1861, the Southern States, believing correctly that their cherished institutions
were under grave threat - I think they were - and under assault from Federal Government, they decided to exercise their natural,
contractual and constitutional rights to withdraw, to secede from that Union. And they came together in another confederation
- the Confederated States of America. So if the American Revolutionary War is just, if we're prepared to say that, then
we have to be prepared to say that the Southern Cause - the War for Southern Independence - was also just, and equally so.
And if the British were unjust - and I think they were - then the Northern Cause was equally unjust.'
Watch the video below (which is part III in a series of V)
'The US has announced $1bn (£564m) of aid to Georgia for
reconstruction after the conflict with Russia. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the aid would be used to rebuild houses
and infrastructure - but not for military purposes. Georgia has requested $2bn in funding from the international community.'
Of course, given that Condi Rice has repeated lied to the entire world about numerous issues (WMD's in Iraq,
Kosovo, Iran's military capabilities, etc) we can hardly believe her statement that our money is going to only peaceful
efforts in that far-off country. Yet even supposing that Rice is not lying to us this time, were US tax-payers ever asked
if they wanted their money spent in this manner? Do not be silly.
'At a time when the GOP is plunging ever deeper into mindless
nationalism, Palin's willingness to hang out with northern separatists is a breath of fresh air. The political class's
collective case of the vapors over this woman is even more ridiculous than the panics over Michelle Obama and Jeremiah Wright.
There are reasonable criticisms of Palin, topmost of which is the fact that she's willing to run on a ticket with John
McCain. This is not one of them.'
'Polling data, Ayers said, show 18 percent of white Democrats
said they would vote for McCain, while only 6 percent of white Republicans said they would vote for his Democratic opponent,
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.'
'South Carolina has once again
assured its first-in-the-South presidential primary position for another four years, after the convention rules committee
adopted its primary schedule this weekend. The plan would allow New Hampshire and South Carolina to set primary dates in February
of 2012, while all other states must wait until after the first week of March or risk penalty.'
'A crackdown has identified 170 illegal immigrants in Beaufort
County's jail, and the sheriff said he has heard the extra scrutiny is causing a number of people in the U.S. illegally
to leave the area. The county is two months into a three-month crackdown on illegal immigrants.
Agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement are in the jail, helping to weed out any inmates who should not be in
the U.S.'
Crackdowns, such as the one
currently being carried out in Beaufort County, SC, are prime examples of how we still have the ability to end this illegal
invasion of Dixie, which includes returning those who have disrespected us, our homeland, and our laws to their countries
of origin. Until every single local jurisdiction and every single Southron State as a whole takes
a stand, however, illegal aliens will merely flock to those that do not.
'Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has expressed his support
for Russia’s decision to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, referring to it as an act of dignity....
“Russia is defending its interests… we would do the same,” he said.'
Georgia May Have Used Cluster Bombs on South Ossetia
'A prominent human rights group says Georgia has admitted dropping
cluster bombs in its military offensive to assert control over the restive province of South Ossetia. Human Rights Watch says
it has received an official letter from Georgia's Defense Ministry that acknowledges use of the M85 cluster munition near
the Roki tunnel that connects South Ossetia with Russia.'
Can you imagine ever wanting to be returned to the
control of a country that cluster-bombed your people? I can not. Yet that is what Washington, DC and its puppet - Georgia
- are claiming must happen. To the devil with self-determination and government by the consent of the governed, DC is essentially
saying.
SCV Florida Cracker Newsletter (with articles and pics)
September's newsletter from the mechanized calvary of the Florida
SCV is out and available to read below. As usual, it has lots of pictures and this time it features a short article by myself
as well.
'Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is reported to have shot
a tiger with a tranquiliser dart while out filming with a TV crew. It is claimed that the tiger escaped from a trap and was
heading for the crew when Mr Putin stepped in.'
Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party) Endorses Bob Conley (Dem)
'The Constitution Party nominee for President Chuck Baldwin
endorses Democrat nominee for South Carolina US Senate seat Bob Conley! Its not about the party, its about the platform.'
On his campaign website, conservative Democratic candidate Bob Conley
is now openly challenging the leadership of the Democrat Party, especially in South Carolina. In an article posted on the
site, the Dems are taken to task on a number of populist issues.
'[Bob Conley] doesn’t understand why the Democratic Leadership wants to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants,
who are leaving Americans unemployed and underemployed; who are driving up medical costs for all Americans; sapping our schools
of resources that should be devoted to American children; overtaxing our social services; and spreading crime — all
paid for by the shrinking middle class. He doesn’t understand why the Democratic Leadership is selling out Americans
for the benefit of corporations and espousing policies which will spawn a new, and even larger, wave of illegal entry across
our border with Mexico.'
Could an Obama Win Help Conservatives in 2010 & 2012?
'...Many House Republicans, while supportive of McCain, say
their own rehabilitation would be better served with Barack Obama in the White House. In opposition, Republicans might differentiate
themselves and gain seats in 2010 as the party out of power rather than suffer more losses on top of those in 2006 and those
they expect in 2008. Of course, they’re in opposition now in the Congress, but they complain that too few Americans
know it.'
'The convention for former Republican presidential candidate
Ron Paul will go on as planned, the campaign said Sunday, despite the RNC’s decision to truncate their program.'
'Southern hospitality goes only so far.... In June, the Charleston
RiverDogs minor league baseball team even celebrated a "Go Back to Ohio" night at the ballpark, which, from newspaper
accounts, seemed to be a lighthearted affair. Dispatchreader Chris Paparodis of Hilliard, who vacations
each summer at Seabrook Island near Charleston, said he began noticing GoBackToOhio.com bumper stickers last year.'
The Yankee invasion of Dixie, every bit as destructive to our
culture and identity and values as the Mexican invasion, is drawing the first timid signs of resistance. Watch for stronger
resistance in the future, I would predict. The people of Dixie, hospitable as they are, simply are at rope's end.
Here's the piece I put together with the help of info from the
'Ulster American Folk Park' pamphlet titled "Ulster American Folk Park." It's available at telephone:
01662 243292. It provides the dates (which I checked) while I provided the commentary....
The City of Nashville is one of the most famous in Dixie and all of North America and is
probably one of the most important cultural cities in the world, actually. Nashville is a major center of America’s
music industry and capital of the State of Tennessee. The city was founded in 1780 when James Robertson and John Donelson,
two Ulster-Scots pioneers from Virginia, led two groups of settlers to the area and formed a community. They signed the Cumberland
Compact which provided for their self-government and soon the city was prospering. The names of the original settlers: Anderson,
Armstrong, Boyd, Bradly, Buchanan, Moore, McMurray, McVay Reid, Russell, Seaton, Shaw, Webb, Woods and so on. Some of these
folks were direct from Northern Ireland (Ulster) while others were second or perhaps even third generation in the New World.
The name of their new community was Nashborough. Later it was changed to Nashville. The city was made the capital of the State
of Tennessee in 1826.
So most of the founders of Nashville
were Ulster-Scotsmen who came to Dixie, moved across what was then the frontier and wilderness, and founded what was to become
a great city and a future center of Southron culture.
Long
before, people had lived in the area of Belfast in Ulster for many, many centuries. But no major settlement was founded until
1606 when the Hamilton & Montgomery Settlement of Ulster began. Mostly Low-Land Scotsmen settled in the area and built
a soon-thriving city. With the success of Belfast established, King James I of England started the settlement of Virginia
only one year later in 1607. The settlements of the two lands, the culture and connections between them is all part of our
story – though you’ll have to research it to get all the details.
The 1700’s saw a large migration by the Ulster-Scots to America – especially to Dixie. This pre-dates
the later migration of Irish folks who left the Potato Famine. It’s figured that in this earlier migration over 250,000
Ulstermen and women traveled across the Atlantic. In fact, later it’s estimated that at least a third of George Washington’s
army was Ulster-Scotsmen and some have even called the American Revolution the “Scots-Irish Presbyterian Revolution.”
To be sure, these settlers had a lasting influence on the
culture and history of Dixie. When we look at cities such as Nashville, treasures of our heritage and culture, we see the
profound influence of our ancestors at work.
Today,
Belfast and Nashville are sister cities – this agreement was signed in 1994. Our rich history and heritage – often
intertwined together – is certainly to be treasured forever.
'Police raided a rental hall used by a group organizing protests
at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Friday.... While no one was arrested, the group said police
temporarily detained and photographed at least 50 people who were inside the building.'
Freedom in 'the
land of the free' is certainly dead, as this story points out clearly.
