'The US is set to take "unprecedented measures" to
tackle the crisis gripping US financial markets, President George W Bush has said. But he warned the moves, which include
spending of billions of dollars to buy up bad debts, would risk "a significant amount" of taxpayers' money.'
Bush Administration Pushes 'Hundreds of Billions' in Socialist Bailout
'Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Friday it will
take “hundreds of billions of dollars” to buy up troubled assets as part of a massive government intervention
the White House wants Congress to approve to relieve the strain on financial markets. Paulson said he will work with lawmakers
over the weekend to “flesh out the details” of the proposal for action next week.'
And this
is a free country? Perhaps long ago - certainly not now.
Obama's Wars: Liberal Interventionism Makes a Comeback
'Obama believes all of what he said six years ago in Chicago.
He has called for, or retroactively endorsed, interventions in Zimbabwe, Pakistan, and Sudan. He has advocated a humanitarian-based
foreign policy for his entire public career. Since coming to the U.S. Senate in 2005, he has built up a brain trust of academics
and ex-Clintonites who, like him, challenge the logic of the Iraq war but not the logic of wars like Iraq. John McCain
looks at American military power and sees a way to "roll back" rogue states. Obama looks at American military power
and sees a way to solve international and intranational conflict, regardless of the conflict's immediate impact on national
security. McCain seeks to aggressively confront imminent threats. Obama wants to do the same, while forestalling threats of
tomorrow with just as much military vigor.'
'The incident of 1857-58 known as the Utah Expedition, the Utah
War or Buchanan’s Blunder was a collision of territorial self-determination against a federal government already faced
with insubordination in Kansas and its Southern states. When President James Buchanan decided to flex federal muscle against
Utah Territory and ‘the Mormon problem,’ he ignited a full rebellion that, before it was all over, embarrassed
the military arm of the young republic and confounded the president....'
A lesser-known story of Federal conquest
for those interested. Different age, same central aggression.
Women Buried Alive in Pakistan for Choosing Husband
'A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by northwestern tribesmen
to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of Parliament to spare
him their outrage. "These are centuries-old traditions, and I will continue to defend them," Israr Ullah Zehri,
who represents Baluchistan province, told The Associated Press Saturday. "Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid." The women, three of whom were teenagers, were
first shot and then thrown into a ditch.'
The savagery that still exists in much of the world today is simply
unbelievable. As Muslims become the majority in many Western lands - perhaps even America in the future - will they
bring such 'old traditions' as this savagery to us? Sure sounds like a 'culturally en-richening experience'
to me.
Militant Jewish Groups Uninvite Palin to Anti-Iran Rally
It looks like Sarah Palin will not be warmongering against
Iran at next week's rally against Iran in New York after all. Never fear though - the opportunities to stir up international
conflicts are boundless surrounded as she now is by McCain, Lieberman and the rest of the War Party.
'A spokesman
for the event, Glen Rosencrantz, would not confirm a Politico report that several high-profile Jewish Democrats had pressured
the organization to nix Palin from the event. But in a conference call with reporters Thursday, Ira Forman, the Executive
Director of the National Jewish Democratic Council, said his group strongly disapproved of Palin's invitation to the event.'
Condoleezza Rice's continuous verbal assaults on Russia reminds
us that the neo-cons pose an ever-present danger to our peace and stability - and therefore prosperity, as well.
Check out the criminal nature of many of 'our fellow citizens'
who would openly steal from us while the entire community, in this case Houston, suffers disaster. Eighty-one people were
arrested for the looting.
'According to a Justice Department audit released Wednesday, the inspector
general reported the ATF was unable to account for 76 weapons and 418 laptops over the past five years. The report said the rate of loss had tripled since the last audit was conducted by the ATF's
then-parent agency, the Treasury Department. "It is especially troubling that ATF's rate of loss for weapons was
nearly double that of the FBI and DEA," the report said.'
Not only is this agency strictly unconstitutional
and often tyrannical in its application of Federal laws, it is quite corrupt. What's new?!
Article: 'Is Free-Market Capitalism on the Ropes?'
'Billions to bail out Freddie and Fannie. Last night's takeover
rescue of AIG, one of the world's largest insurers. Automakers lining up for Washington's help. All under a conservative
free-market administration. Is the American model of free-market capitalism on the ropes and what are the implications...?'
'Organizers announced Tuesday that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president, will
speak at the Sept. 22 rally organized by several Jewish groups to protest the Iranian president at the United Nations.'
Is this at all productive? Will it help us achieve good relations and trade with the Iranians? Or will it merely amplify
the sounds of those beating drums of war in New York, Washington and Tel Aviv?
More Socialist Intervention from the Feds - Less Financial Liberty
'The US Federal Reserve has announced an $85bn (£48bn) rescue
package for AIG, the country's biggest insurance company, to save it from bankruptcy. AIG will get an $85bn loan, in return
for an 80% public stake in the firm.'
We have by now come to expect greater and greater Federal intervention
in our economy every time one of the Federal Reserve-created 'bubbles' burst. How long shall we endure this further
centralisation and socialisation (now with government control of 80% of AIG, for example) of what was once a free market?
'Bolivian troops have arrested the governor of
a northern province wracked by deadly anti-government violence in recent days, state television reports. Leopoldo Fernandez,
an opponent of President Evo Morales, is accused of backing violence in Pando in which some 16 people died. Mr Morales declared
a state of emergency in Pando last weekend. The region is among several demanding autonomy and opposing Mr Morales's plans
for constitutional reform.'
Well, from Georgia to Communist China to Bolivia, central governments around the
world are proving that they are more than willing to try and militarily crush the democratic will of the people they rule
over in order to suppress autonomy and secessionist movements.
'As banks reeled and presidential campaigns scrambled to react to
the crisis on Wall Street Monday, color one man unsurprised. “I predicted this,” said Ralph Nader, the independent
presidential candidate. “All this I’ve written about five, 10 years ago.”'
Nader actually takes a more conservative, pro-liberty position on the financial mess than
do most Republicans today. He argues against the centralisation of power and the corporate welfare (wealth redistribution)
- positions that long ago were the traditional conservative line. Does anyone remember those days of genuine pro-liberty conservatism?
They were definitely before my time - all I can do is read about them... and watch Nader, Paul and others take the GOP leadership
to task for their straying.
'When I heard about Ron Paul's idea to have the major third
party candidates band together I thought it was a great idea. The third party candidates should be making as much noise as
possible, touring together and debating each other, demanding equal time, and attempting to convince the American people that
there is an alternative to the two major War Parties. Though I still feel Paul should have run as a third party candidate,
I believe this is the next best thing. A left/right alliance against the empire is essential.'
'“Don’t you remember 9/11 asked a called at WTMA,
who could have been anyone on any given day since the Iraq war began who’s has asked the same question countless times.
“I certainly do remember 9/11, sir, which is why I want to bring the troops home from Iraq immediately. I want to prevent
it from happening again.” The caller replied, “Well Jack, either we fight them over there or we fight them on
Calhoun St.” It still amazes me how our leaders have been able to con so many Americans into believing such fiction.'
'NATO’s reinventing itself
is so successful that many of the former Soviet Bloc countries are applying for membership. Little Georgia has little to offer
to NATO, other than to instigate hostilities with neighboring Ossetia. No doubt NATO was upset that Georgia did not wait after
it was initiated into its club, so NATO could get into the act and justify its military budget by using mean old Russia as
an excuse. Besides, how dare the Russians come to the aid of Ossetia when it was attacked by Georgia! That’s NATO job!
If its one thing an organization hates, it’s someone else cutting in on the action.'
'For Wall Street, it has probably been the most extraordinary 24 hours
since the late 1920s. As I said would happen yesterday evening, Lehman has announced that it is filing for bankruptcy protection
under Chapter 11. To prevent contagion to the next most vulnerable investment bank, mighty Bank of America is buying Merrill
Lynch for about $50bn...As for the US central banking system, the Fed, it is endeavouring to minimise the damage to the financial
system from these shocks by allowing securities firms to swap shares for short-term loans, to tide them over. The Fed
is also increasing by $25bn the amount it is prepared to lend to bond dealers.'
Debt and government 'intervention' in the market (which do indeed go hand-in-hand) are the causes of such
financial troubles in the first place. When will individuals learn that debt (both public and private) and socialism are not
the answer?
'The United States has surpassed its goal of admitting 12,000 Iraqi
refugees this year and expects more, perhaps tens of thousands, next year, the State Department said on Friday. The
United States expects to admit a minimum of 17,000 Iraqi refugees in fiscal 2009, which begins October 1, the department's
senior coordinator for refugees said. Thousands more Iraqis and their family members could arrive through a special
visa program for people who worked for the United States or its contractors.'
History continues to repeat itself.
A crumbling empire (in this case the United States) has invaded and occupied another country (in this case Iraq), seeking
to do what empires do - control. Yet in the process thousands of Southron soldiers, soldiers from other areas
controlled by Washington, and Iraqi civilians have been killed. Using - yes, using and nothing more - those it has conquered
(Southrons and even Iraqis) to fight this war, the federal government has yet again proven itself to be incompetent and
overextended. In the process, it encourages even more individuals to invade Dixie.
US Federal Government Invades Another Country - Pakistan
'Pakistani troops have fired shots into the air to stop US troops
crossing into the South Waziristan region of Pakistan, local officials say. Reports say nine US helicopters landed on the
Afghan side of the border and US troops then tried to cross the border.... The incident comes amid growing anger in Pakistan
over increasingly aggressive US attacks along the border.'
We can now add Pakistan to the long list of countries
invaded by the US Federal Government. I am quite sure that the Feds will make the lives of the local peoples there every bit
as wonderful as they have made ours. All for the greater glory of the Empire, right?!
Reenactment of War Between the States this Weekend
'With cannons firing and horses galloping, Union and Confederate
soldiers will battle like its 1861 at the Lake Villa Historical Society's 6th annual Civil War Days, being held this weekend
on the grounds of the Lehmann Mansion.'
'The Citadel is placing a bronze plaque to mark remains taken
from a potters field excavated under the school's football stadium. The Monday dedication marks the reburial of remains
found in 2004 and 2006 when stadium renovations began. More than 340 grave pits were found and about 275 contained remains.
Thy have now been reburied near the stadium site.'
'Don Gorske says he has eaten 23,000 of the [Big Mac] burgers
in 36 years.... Gorske has kept every burger receipt in a box. He says he was always fascinated with numbers, and watching
McDonald's track its number of customers motivated him to track his own consumption.'
'I'm a strong believer that we have to be very pro-active
as a nation, picking and chosing regions of the world where we can bring forth what the American dream is.... It's our
responsibility, it's our duty as Americans, and who believe in our Constitution, to spread the word and
spread the gospel world-wide no matter the cost in blood, no matter the cost in money.'
The above is a quote
from the video by Dr. Harvey Kushner, a leading neo-con warmonger from New York.
