Feds Endanger North America and Asia with Nuclear Blunders

'The US Air Force (USAF) is planning to set up a new Global Strike Command for its nuclear weapons as part of a re-organisation after recent mishaps. The move follows the discovery that six nuclear weapons were mistakenly flown across the US, and that nuclear missile fuses were sent unknowingly to Taiwan. The blunders resulted in the sacking of two of USAF's most senior officials.'

So let me get this straight - because the the Feds messed up and endangered the lives of potentially tens of millions of people across North America and Asia, they are now taking it upon themselves to create a Global Strike Command? This surely will make the people of the world feel better. What is needed is a weaker Washington, DC that can not put the lives of all of us around their global Empire in jeopardy. Liberty and prosperity is our proper concern - not global imperialism.

The War Party Embraces Obama

'So at a time when the U.S.-supported government is moving rapidly toward a Taliban-type theocracy – even as that government moves toward some type of accommodation with the radical Islamic former rulers of the country – Obama is telling us we must pour more troops, more money, and more of our hopes into the Afghan front, which has supposedly been "neglected" by the Bushies.'

The Gang of Thieves Called the State

'If, then, the State is not "us," if it is not "the human family" getting together to decide mutual problems, if it is not a lodge meeting or country club, what is it? Briefly, the State is that organization in society which attempts to maintain a monopoly of the use of force and violence in a given territorial area; in particular, it is the only organization in society that obtains its revenue not by voluntary contribution or payment for services rendered but by coercion.'

Pro-liberty Sermon from Dixie

For our Christian readers, here is a radical, pro-liberty sermon from Heritage Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. Even for non-Christians, the strong pro-free markets, pro-liberty social and political commentary might be enjoyed.

Christians and the Pro-Life Ploy

'Indeed, the pro-life ploy is perfectly demonic: in holding out the illusionary possibility of destroying an evil an even greater evil is fed. But what can be more evil than killing babies? It is that which is the cause of this killing and myriad other evils. Indeed, as atrocious as abortion is, it is nonetheless a symptom. Our nation is not vicious because it allows abortion, rather it allows abortion because the nation is vicious.'

A Real Debate - Finally!

'Tonight, Ralph Nader (I) & Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party) meet in a 3rd Party debate, hosted by Free and Equal. This is Mr. Nader's fourth presidential campaign. Mr. Baldwin is a radio talk show host and Baptist Minister.'

Two liberty-loving candidates - one from the Old Left and the other from the Old Right (as opposed to their newer, warmongering versions) are going to go at the issues. This should be good! The debate is at 9 o'clock.

Feds Continue to Trample upon Local Self-Government, Native Culture - in the Northern Marianas

'After meeting with visiting federal officials, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial continues to insist that the marine monument proposal should not be hastily forced upon the people of the CNMI against the wishes of the democratically elected local government. "The federal government should respect the will of the people of the CNMI, as expressed by the elected local government," said Fitial. Fitial again highlighted the strong opposition of the administration, the municipal governments, and both houses of the CNMI Legislature. The CNMI Legislature has twice passed joint resolutions opposing the monument proposal..."...This is just not right. It is undemocratic and disrespectful to our culture, economic aspirations, local self-government, and indigenous rights." The governor expressed concern that well-financed special interest groups may be forcing these severe restrictions on the CNMI without the consent of the elected government or the majority of residents.'

We Southrons are all too familiar with the feds' utter disregard for the concept of the consent of the governed, local self-government, and native culture.  In this case, however, in the Northern Mariana Islands, a chain of islands ruled by Washington thousands of miles away in the western Pacific, one is unable to ignore the parallels between circumstances of the native population there and our own situation.  The second link below provides further details on this so-called 'marine monument,' but Bush has called for the creation of a wildlife sanctuary of sorts in aquatic areas off the islands - despite the fact that most natives don't want this one bit.  After all, we are talking about their land, their waters, and their means of sustaining themselves.

Don't y'all just hate it when meddling yankees seek to prevent us from accessing our own lands in such (well, any) ways?   We Southrons are a people with a deep connection to the soil and nature as a whole, and we have far greater respect for it than these forest-cutting, farmland-paving, subdivision-building invaders ever could.  Perhaps such individuals should respect local self-government and concern themselves with the polluted urban wastelands they call cities.

More United Nations Corruption

'A U.N. task force has uncovered five new cases of corruption, fraud and mismanagement involving $20 million in contracts throughout the international body, according to the unit's annual report to the U.N. General Assembly and sources familiar with the findings. The cases in the U.N. Procurement Task Force's report, which will be formally presented to U.N. members Thursday, span air charter services in Congo, office supplies in Kenya, consulting jobs in Greece and payroll services at the New York headquarters. They are the latest cases in a three-year investigation into U.N. purchasing that has exposed more than $630 million in contracts tainted by fraud, corruption or mismanagement at the United Nations.'

McCain Campaign Hoping for a 'Win' in Virginia

'A top aide to John McCain said Saturday the Republican presidential nominee still has a strong chance of winning the state because of his support in "real Virginia," the downstate areas far removed in distance and political philosophy from the more liberal areas of the northern part of the state. "As a proud resident of Oakton, Va., I can tell you that the Democrats have just come in from the District of Columbia and moved into northern Virginia," McCain senior adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer said on MSNBC. "And that's really what you see there. But the rest of the state, real Virginia, if you will, I think will be very responsive to Sen. McCain's message."..."I just hope that the state of Virginia will continue to support and continue to be a red state," said 45-year-old Diane Fuller of Manassas.'

I'm sorry, ma'am, but no; I hope and pray that the Commonwealth of Virginia, along with all her sister States of Dixie, will once again become a free State - free from this empire, free from our occupiers, free from corrupt partisan politics, and free to choose the manner in which we live.  Indeed, Northern Virginia, unfortunately like so many areas across our Southron homeland (such as parts of my native State of Maryland, Florida, and Texas), has become invaded.  However, let us never forget the Southrons caught up in this mess in these more (we pray, temporarily) occupied regions - the folks upon whom this invasion was forced, the folks keeping up the good fight.  If we give an inch by abandoning any of our fellow Southrons, the enemy will take a mile by shortly thereafter claiming all of Dixie.

NM Lot could be Confederate Graveyard

'Civil War buffs say a rocky patch of vacant land likely holds hundreds of human remains in a long-abandoned cemetery, including the unmarked graves of 27 Confederate soldiers. Ken Garrison, an officer with the New Mexico Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, said if the abandoned cemetery can't be preserved, soldiers' remains should be exhumed and reburied "in a respectable location."'

Gettysburg's Cannons Roar Again as Cyclorama Restored

''There were no motion pictures back then, so cycloramas were a popular way to present sweeping images such as Pickett's Charge,'' said Boardman, author of a book about the painting. ''Dioramas were used to give these kinds of paintings more authenticity and energy.''

Article: 'Turners specialize in Confederate Rose'

'After becoming fascinated with the “Confederate Rose,” that beautiful flower you see blooming now, Stacy and Ross Turner spent ten years researching the plant before deciding they would grow the plant for sale. Since then they have marketed them to nurseries in Florence and various other areas. The hobby grew into a business. Stacy said, “One of the first things we learned was that it isn’t a rose at all, although the plant is called Confederate Rose or “Confederate Rose Mallow.” The binomial name is “Hibiscus Mutabilis”.'

Article: 'How Crackpot Egalitarianism Caused the Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis'

'The main cause of the current economic crisis is the boom-and-bust cycle that was caused by the Greenspan Fed. Years of artificially-lowered interest rates caused trillions of dollars in mal-investment in real estate and other industries, and now we must endure the bust. But crackpot egalitarianism within the Fed and, indeed, in the entire Washington establishment, has made the crisis infinitely worse.'
