Iran moving towards freer economy, US towards fascism
'Iran said on Sunday it has privatised 63 billion dollars worth of government equity in state-owned
firms, meeting half of the target currently set as part of its privatisation drive. Gholam Reza
Heydari Kord Zanganeh, head of the state-run Privatisation Organisation, said the divestment cut the government's part of
the gross domestic produce to around 45 percent from 60 percent before the programme.'
Meanwhile, in the US the trend is towards the reverse. Federal President Obama and the majority party in Congress continue
to push hard for greater government involvement in the economy, especially the medical sector. A recent Gallop poll reveals
that the public disapproves of the plan and of Obama's handling of the issue.
'Fascism should more appropriately
be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.' -Benito Mussolini quote
'Is libertarian rock star and Texas Republican Ron Paul going mainstream? Ron Paul's economic views,
long dismissed by the political establishment, seem to be resonating more broadly.'
The Russian 'threat' seems like one less bogey-man in the world which the Feds and the media can use to
try and keep us scared (and therefore keep our tax dollars going towards maintaining the Empire and the vast
military-industrial complex).
This troubling article argues that the rule of law has been ignored by the US Federal Government in the
past and so should therefore be ignored again. Great logic, huh? 'Terrorists' - by which they mean anyone who opposes the
Feds and their occupations of various foreign countries - must not be given a trial, according to this article. That would
somehow make us unsafe. Crazy, huh? One would think that disregarding the rule of law and allowing the Washington, DC to indiscriminately
imprison, torture and execute would make us unsafe.
The article also seems to equate Confederates (who were decentralists
and agrarians from the mid 19th century) with Nazis (who were centralists, imperialists and industrialists). In fact, Confederates
and Nazis had very little in common. The author brags about the unlawful way the Feds treated Confederates and Nazis. It's
too bad, actually that he doesn't follow his own logic out and brag about the unlawful way the Feds treats virtually everyone.
The article seems to argue that anyone who 'disregards' the Geneva Convention can rightfully be executed - without a trial!
That should make us all feel safe, right? There are too many troubling aspects of this article to go through them all in detail.
Let it just be said that it is thoroughly against liberty, against the rule of law and in favour of expanding arbitrary Federal
rule.
'Confederate soldiers were held until the war was over, without due process, to keep them from
returning to the battlefield. During World War II, Nazi enemies who disregarded the Geneva Convention were executed without
trial. Why would terrorists be granted rights not afforded to Confederates, Nazis and all other enemies in the past?'
'Seems to me that we have either ignored or simply missed a very vital component of liberty in our discussions
and writings about secession...or about the Second Amendment. That very vital component is the existence and use of force.'
Neo-cons try to convince former Vice Torturer to run in 2012
'A new group wants former Vice President Dick Cheney back in the White House. The organization - "Draft
Dick Cheney 2012" - launched on Friday, and unveiled their new web site. Their aim: To convince the former vice president
to seek the Republican presidential nomination in the next race for the White House.'
Well, the only thing
that could be worse than an Obama second term would be to replace the evil Obama with the (perhaps even more) evil Cheney.
'We are seeing the beginning of a social revolution. This revolution will spread to politics. It is
happening under our noses.'
Deconstructing the Empire and reasserting liberty as a principle as well as our
cultural identity - these are the revolutionary ideas we embrace... and they are going more mainstream by the day!
Virginia public school system targets Confederate flag use
It's truly unfortunate when our flag is misused. This gives the forces of political correctness more ammo
to further restrict our liberties and target the national symbol of Dixie. Of course, the Federal flag is widely misused as
well and there are never calls to get rid of it. However, that's the difference in being the occupied vs being the occupiers.
'Rockingham County school officials are cracking down on the use of the Confederate flag. Schools Superintendent
Carol Fenn delivered that message to the county School Board on Tuesday night in response to an incident two months ago at
Broadway High School. Some students displayed the flag and shouted racial slurs. Under the policy outlined by Fenn, any student
who uses the Confederate symbol to taunt, bully or intimidate will be subject to disciplinary action.'
'The first thanksgiving proclamation was issued by Geo. Washington, in which he called on Americans
to pray. Like virtually all pols, George wanted to be a religious figure too. But his call to thanksgiving for a wonderful
government (and president) fell flat in those freer days. The proclamation that stuck was from Lincoln during his war on dissenting
Southerners and Northerners. Abe’s edict had three purposes: to cement Abe as a religious figure; to have Yankees thank
God for him, his war, and his government; and to erase the memory of the earlier thanksgivings by the Spanish in Florida and
the English in Virginia, to make it seem as if America were founded in Massachusetts.'
'Speaker Nancy Pelosi kept the door open Tuesday to a proposal by several senior House Democrats to
impose a graduated surtax on American taxpayers to finance the war in Afghanistan.'
Of course, the Federal
occupation of Afghanistan needs to stop based on moral grounds. However, if there is going to be a continuing occupation, a
tax would actually probably be a more honest way to pay for this immorality rather than pushing the debt on to our children.
Perhaps if people felt the cost of the occupation directly they would sufficiently pressure Congress to finally bring the
soldiers home. Until we leave the Empire (or it falls) this is the sort of delima we will continue to face.
The term 'liberal' is widely used pejoratively today in the South by those who profess to believe in traditional
values and small government to describe the meddlesome 'Big Government' types who run our modern society. However, the term
'liberal' was embraced by those who inspired the Founding Fathers and was only hijacked by totalitarian-minded statists
in the early 20th century. The following is an interesting article which makes the argument that traditionalists who
favour very limited government are actually classical 'liberals' while those who favour massive government intervention
at home and abroad are the 'conservatives'. No matter what we call ourselves today, what is certain is that our
tradition of resisting intrusive government is quite old (inherited from the Founders and the people who inspired them)
and continues to this very day in the pro-South movement.
'The writers and intellectuals who made up the most
visible contingent of the "Old Right" were in no meaningful sense on the Right at all. They were on the Left, where
they had always been. They were liberals. The term liberal had in fact been hijacked. The "two-party system" in
the United States now consisted of two conservative parties and no liberal party.'
Most women don't trust the Feds' mammogram recommendation
'Three-quarters of American women between the ages of 35 and 75 disagree with the relaxed medical recommendations
for mammograms announced by a government panel last week, according to a new Gallup/USA Today poll. The survey released Tuesday
finds 47 percent of women "strongly disagree" and another 29 percent "disagree" with the recommendation
from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force last week that women in their 40s should no longer get routine breast cancer
exams, and that the interval for women getting a mammogram in their 50s should be every two years, rather than every year.'
Poll: 55% of Americans are 'populists'; 7% suppport the political class
'Preliminary results indicate that 55% of Americans can be classified on the populist or Mainstream
side of the divide. Only seven percent (7%) side with the Political Class. Thirty-seven percent (37%) of those on the populist
side of the debate are Republicans, 36% are Democrats, and 27% are not affiliated with either major party. Twenty-two percent
(22%) of government employees are aligned with the Political Class along with just four percent (4%) of private sector workers.
The biggest surprise so far is that a plurality of the Political Class believes the economy is getting better while 66% of
those in the Mainstream say it’s getting worse.'
'As experts debate the potential speed of the US recovery, one figure looms large but is often overlooked:
nearly 1 in 5 Americans is either out of work or under-employed. According to the government's broadest measure of unemployment,
some 17.5 percent are either without a job entirely or underemployed.'
Bazz Childress Speaks to the Fayette County KY Constitution Party (video)
'The real roots of liberty, Jacobin perversion, Yankee imperialism, and an historical perspective on
our modern political problems traced back through Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War, aka The War of Northern Aggression,
back through the French Revolution, and throughout the entire course of human history. The struggle against the deceivers
who would rewrite history with their propaganda continues to this day.'
Pro-South grill-out and fun evening! Saturday, December 12 just south of Aiken, SC by the 'Yankee Go
Home' sign on my family's land. There will be a bonfire, grill-out and you can get your picture taken with the sign. lol An
evening of fun with Southron folks. You can even pitch a tent and stay the night if you'd like. All of y'all are invited!
'Today Congress is acting like a mule; and like a mule, sometimes the only way to get its attention
is to hit it between the eyes. As we (a majority) all know, the Obama Congress is running America’s balance sheet, value
of her dollar, and entire economy over the cliff. Most of us also know that it’s only drastic action can get the attention
of this Congress that appears hell bent on ushering in a new socialist nation. Ordinary Americans are trying with massive
Tea Parties, but one certain way to get Washington’s attention and possibly prevent the coming economic and social disaster
(annihilation) is for one state or two to say ENOUGH! The preverbal two by four between the eyes may be what is called for
to save the futures of all Americans.'
Augusta’s Old Confederate Powderworks Restoration Underway
'Renovations are now underway on the last remaining piece of the old Confederate powderworks, the 150-foot
tall chimney located on the Augusta Canal. Built in 1861, the Civil War relic is in need of a major facelift, and a special
team of “restorers” are on site to make it right. Their goal: make the repairs as historically accutate as possible.'
Democrat candidate McLeod wants Confederate flag down in SC
'As the topper on a job proposal, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mullins McLeod said Thursday that
the state needs to bring down the controversial Confederate Flag on the Statehouse grounds and put it in a museum where it
belongs. The whole debate sends the wrong message about South Carolina, McLeod said.'
McLeod
is out of touch with the majority of South Carolinians. In elitist circles his rhetoric will no doubt play well, however,
the majority of us want to see our heritage and culture preserved. McLeod doesn't have a chance in this race anyhow, thankfully
(SC is a GOP State - not that most Republicans are much better than McLeod). With statements like this, he's going to
do even worse than he would have otherwise.
'The Texas Nationalist Movement invites you and your friends and family to join us for a weekend of
Texas history, culture, and economy as we answer the many questions about Texas Independence and how you can help restore
your liberties. The Texas Independence Conference is the first National Conference held by the Texas Nationalist Movement and
in addition to addressing topics for anyone interested in the history, culture, economy and independence of Texas it will
also provide networking and training for current TNM members. This event is an opportunity to fully engage all aspects of
the mission and vision of the organization.'
Another 'Yankee Go Home' sign - this time in Texas!
Beau from Texas recently sent us this picture and wrote...
'It is next to a highway in east Texas - there was another
one about a mile down that had Stop Federal Occupation on it. Made me proud.'
Thanks, Beau.
And if anyone else out there has pictures of signs of resistance to the invasion or occupation, send it to us on Facebook
or YouTube and we'll post it on SLMN.
Ocala, FL Confederate statue may be moved by bureaucrats
'A 101-year-old Confederate monument that has stood near the Marion County Courthouse for decades might
be moving. The Marion County commission on Tuesday considered relocating the statue of the Confederate infantryman that once
stood in front of the county courthouse. Two years ago, the statue was moved to a corner on the south side of the building.'
Another news story about meddlesome government bureaucrats who are trying to hide any symbol of the native culture
of Dixie.
Dr Aiken, professor at the College of Charleston, delivers an interesting talk at the 2009 SC League
of the South State Convention about the superiority of our ideas in three different areas: warfare, money and the environment.
The talk is divided into three parts with the second and third part linked below this video.
'Southern dialects substantially originated from immigrants from the British Isles who moved to the
South in the 17th and 18th centuries. The South was predominantly settled by immigrants from the West Country in the southwest
of England, the dialects of which have similarities to the Southern US dialects. Settlement also included large numbers of
Protestants from Ulster, Ireland, and from Scotland. During the migration south and west, the settlers encountered the French
immigrants of New France (from which Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and western Tennessee originated), and the
French accent itself fused into the British and Irish accents. The modern Southern dialects were born.'
'If you can’t think of reasons that state secession is a better solution for liberty than working
within "the system," consider the record of the Federal Government of the United States. Sure, you can ultimately
lay the blame on all of us, since we are the ones who allow the atrocities of Washington to continue. But for now, let’s
look at Washington’s record of achievement over the last 150 years.'
TSA questioning now actually has to be related to airline security, believe it or not. Of course, this doesn't change
the larger issue - which is, why can't the airlines and airports provide their own security? Why must the Feds bully their
way into the picture and subject us to all sorts of humiliating search tactics like we live in a police state or something?
This is a small victory, but the TSA thugs remain out there ready to grope you, plunder through your personal items (even
after they have already been scanned) and utterly deny your basic natural rights the next time you fly.
'TSA has changed two rules about airport searches after an aide to Congressman Ron Paul recorded an incident on his
iPhone. The rules changes have prompted the ACLU to drop legal action against TSA on behalf of Steve Bierfeldt.'
Confederate flag defenders protest in Homestead, FL
'A handful of Confederate flag wavers who wanted to participate in Wednesday’s Veterans Day parade
were relegated instead to spectators on the sidelines. “This is a great day, but also a sad one,” said Gary Kalof,
commander of a Sons of Confederate Veterans camp in Miami-Dade County. He watched the parade from a sidewalk. “This
is what the NAACP wanted, for us to be banned,’’ Kalof said. “They wanted to divide this community, which
is what they always do.”'
A sad day of cultural genocide against the native culture of Dixie by the
pro-Empire powers of political-correctness.
Malalai Joya is a (suspended) Member of the Afghan
Parliament. She was elected to the 249-seat National Assembly, or Wolesi Jirga in September 2005, as a representative of Farah
Province. Malalai won the second highest number of votes in the province.'
Feds reverse stance on treaty to regulate gun trade
'The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to
regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.'
Disturbing news. Of course, there is no danger of 'losing our sovereignty' - that was long ago lost to the Feds and their
handlers. However, the danger is that the Feds will now use this sort of 'back door' way to disarm people.
'Ron Paul, a libertarian-leaning Republican congressman from Texas, abandoned his 2008 White House bid
long before Election Day. He did not win any primaries, but developed a strong following on the Internet and set a single-day
record for raising money online. Since entering the race in August, his son has banked more than $1.3 million. His chief GOP
opponent, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, collected $1.2 million between May and October, according to a report filed with
the Federal Election Commission.'
'Hundreds of supporters from all over the Southeast turned out Monday night, Nov. 9, to hear Ron Paul
give a lecture at the Carolina Coliseum. The conservative Texas congressman, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican Party’s
presidential nomination in 2008, spoke for nearly an hour. The event was sponsored by USC’s Honors College and the Carolina
Debate Union, among other groups. Paul’s speech, titled “The Politics of Tolerance,” came just weeks after
South Carolina’s senior Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham told a town hall group that he would not let Paul “hijack”
the Republican Party.'
Pro-Empire propaganda in the media on Veteran's Day 2009
The mainstream media is full of propaganda about Veteran's Day. Thousands of Federal flags can be seen on TV. Adoring dedications to the young soldiers who fill
the ranks of the Federal military are given. What we can see is virtual worship of the central regime and its military which
serves Washington, DC. Above all we are being told again and again to 'thank those who defend your freedom and our country'.
Let's be clear. In the twentieth century the US military almost never defended our freedom or our country, but
rather expanded Federal control around the globe as they set up hundreds of foreign military bases in countless occupied countries.
And in the twenty-first century the criminal expansion of the Federal Government and its military has been even
more blatant for all to see. Today the Federal military occupies Iraq (a country that never attacked us and posed absolutely
no threat to us) with tens of thousands of troops. It is estimated that the US occupation of Iraq is responsible for the death
of at least one hundred thousand Iraqis. The Feds also occupy Afghanistan and daily kill people there who resist foreign rule.
And the Feds also increasingly push into Pakistan and kill people there, even as more and more native peoples in these lands
take up arms to drive the invaders from their homelands. And of course none of these villagers and resistance fighters in
these Third World countries pose any threat to us here or our liberty - and would pose no threat to the Federal military either
if it would simply leave.
Let's be honest. The last time any American soldier fought for our freedom and
our country was in 1865 - and those brave Confederate forces were fighting against the US government and its military.
There are graves all across the Southland full of our people who were killed by US military in order that the Feds might occupy
and exploit our land. So on this Veteran's Day, let's remember what the US government and military has done to our people
and land. Let's remember how the Feds took away our freedom, burned countless cities to the ground, raped thousands of our
women and killed hundreds of thousands of our people. Today, above all days, is one to spurn the ugly banner of occupation
which has sadly flown over our land for the last 150 years.
New Ole Miss chancellor stops 'Dixie' at football games
'The University of Mississippi's first-year chancellor followed through on a promise Tuesday and asked
the band to stop playing a pep song because some fans are chanting "the South will rise again" at the end of the
medley. Dan Jones said last week he'd ask the band to take "From Dixie With Love" off its play list if the chant
continued during the Northern Arizona-Ole Miss football game Saturday in Oxford. Jones said the chant was heard.'
Another dispicable attack on the culture of our land by a self-serving beaurocrat. When can we get rid of this Jones
fellow and replace him with someone who appreciates our culture and heritage?
The militarisation of the police is reaching new levels of absurdity formerly only found in totalitarian
police states like Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Remember when our police here used to keep a low profile and basically
keep the peace in our communities? They were appropriately called 'peace-keepers' and were viewed as our servants since they
lived off our tax money. Today there is a whole different attitude amongst the gung-ho hot-shots in 'law enforcement' who
now regularly taser or shoot people while out collecting taxes (the fines and fees they collect from us for petty traffic
violations) to buy new toys - like this tank they have gotten in Columbia, SC. Is this the Soviet Union or what? Do we really
want our police riding around in tanks on our streets?
'The Richland County, South Carolina Sheriff's Department
just obtained an armored personnel carrier, complete with a belt-fed, .50-cal turreted machine gun. Sheriff Leon Lott has charmingly named the
vehicle "The Peacemaker," and insists that using a caliber of ammunition that even the U.S. military is reluctant
to use against human targets (it's generally reserved for use against armored vehicles) will "save lives."'
Racial Slurs Spray Painted on Confederate Monument
More on the recent defacing on the Confederate memorial in Augusta, GA.
'The vandalism happened
after dark, Sunday night, and based on the job, it looks like whoever is responsible had some time to finish their work. Spray
painted on the Confederate monument in downtown Augusta was “Black power,“ “Cracker killers,“ and
“I hate whites.“ Crews got most of the paint off, early Monday morning. They used expensive, heavy-duty graffiti
remover on the tough stuff.'
Check out this important interview with Dr Michael Hill, President of the League of the South. He answers
questions from SLMN on pro-South activism, League progress, county secession and much more!
Augusta, GA Confederate monument defaced with anti-white messages
'The large Confederate monument on Broad Street in downtown Augusta has been defaced tonight by someone
who spray painted anti-white messages. Messages were marked in black and include the words black power, I hate whites and
cracker killers as well as an obscenity against whites in large letters.'
Dr Hill, President of the League of the South, speaks about the events of the previous year and how the
League was right in predicting much of this - and also right in advocating the only solution for Dixie: independence. Enjoy!
SLMN's own Maryland Son of the South was at the recent 2009 LS National Convention and recorded the speeches as well as an important interview with LS President
Dr Michael Hill! We'll be bringing this material to y'all in the coming days. Enjoy!
'The huge electronic billboard
on the Chattanooga Convention Center flashed its welcome to the 16the League of the South Convention all week and weekend.
What a perfect way of announcing to the world how our Cause has entered the mainstream political debate!'
The Huffington Post's recent rant against nullification over Federal gun restrictions
The Huffington Post has a new article out which rants against nullification by the States of Tennessee and
Montana (with other States soon to join their ranks it would appear). Its author says that a State nullifying Federal legislation
within its borders which it deems unconstitutional is itself unlawful and unconstitutional. And of course, the infamous 'commerce
clause' of the Federal constitution is called up in defense of Federal supremacy. Specifically the author refers to the case
when the Federal Supreme Court decided that the Federal Government will reign supreme over the States in a case of conflict.
Isn't that convenient for the Feds!
The truth is that the Feds have never cared about the Constitution. They simply
use bits and pieces of it to defend whatever outrageous legislation or action they want to force upon us at the time
with total disregard to the spirit of the original compact among sovereign States. We now have a situation where the Feds
are the de facto single state over the entire Empire they control as they endlessly impose one piece of unconstitutional
legislation after another upon hundreds of millions of us. Acts such as those taken by Tennessee and Montana - with hopefully
even stronger actions to follow - threaten the integrity of the Empire and the supremacy of a middle-sized government city
on the edge of an obscure river near the Atlantic. If we didn't have this power of nullification, what other resort would
we have to Federal dictates? Think about that. Jefferson, Madison and Calhoun long ago wisely realised the absolute necessity
of nullification. Perhaps this author should go back and read some Jefferson.
'We know that individuals can
defy the law. Can a state legislature defy the law? When it comes to the gun issue, apparently it can. I refer to the extraordinary
legislation passed into law by the states of Montana and Tennessee declaring that guns or ammunition manufactured and retained entirely within the borders of those states
are "not subject to federal law." Apparently, similar legislation has been introduced in Texas, Alaska, Minnesota,
South Carolina, Florida, Arizona and Colorado. Can a state unilaterally exempt its homemade products from the reach of
federal law? Only if it is prepared to defy the United States Constitution.'
One often hears statements such as 'We need to do this' or 'We shouldn't have done that' when people talk
about the US Federal Government and their military. Let's be clear, 'we' have never been the Federal Government or its army.
'We' have virtually no voice in the Empire, much less are 'we' a single collective or a unanimous voice. All this 'we' talk
obscures the fact that DC controls an Empire which extends over vast regions of the globe and encompasses a multitude of local
nations, regions, languages, religions, political schools, etc. There is no 'we' when it comes to decision-making in such
an Empire - that would be impossible. 'We' don't decide how much of our money the Feds will steal (i.e. 'tax), how much inflation
(i.e. the printing of money out of thin air) the Feds will force on the economy or which foreign nation the
Feds will 'liberate' (i.e. conquer) next. So let's try and eliminate this confusing word from our language when talking about
the central regime and their doings. Rather than 'we' let's try and remember to use 'they'. 'They' is certainly more appropriate
when dealing with the Empire.
'This flag of Louisiana was adopted on 11 February 1861 based in design on the U.S. flag, having a square canton and 13 stripes.
The canton was red, with a single yellow star, which replicated the colours of the Spanish flag. The stripes alternated blue/white/red/white...;
replicating the colours of the French flag.
It is referred to as the flag of the Republic of Louisiana in some
cases, but this is not accurate. By February 11, 1861 the Confederate States of America had been organized and Louisiana was
a member, so this was the flag of Louisiana as a Confederate State.
The flag flown by Louisiana prior to the adoption
of this flag, was the Pelican Flag, which was never officially adopted, but commonly used prior to and during the war. A Pelican
Flag was flown at the time Louisiana seceded, so it might be more proper to consider it the flag of the independent republic
between secession and creation of the Confederacy. The Pelican Flag was not officially adopted by Louisiana until July 1,
1912.'
'Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined
to commit crimes. ... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage
than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.'
Government officials and unidentified people trying to move Confederate statue
This is what government - even on the local level - is good for. Basically nothing. This beaurocrat Stone
is going to waste twenty-five thousand dollars trying to cover up our history and heritage. Why does this man have any power?
Can't the native people of Ocala get rid of him? Or have the local people been too outnumbered by yankee invaders
and other foreigners to have the ability to do anything about this troublesome beaurocrat?
'County
Commissioner Charlie Stone announced on Tuesday that some private groups are interested in relocating the two-story-tall,
15-ton statue depicting a Confederate infantryman from its current spot on the grounds of the courthouse to the Ocala-Marion
County Veterans Memorial Park. Stone declined to identify who was behind the effort, noting that they were local residents
interested in veterans' and historical issues. Yet, Stone said, they would be willing to "fully fund" the $25,000
that county officials estimate it would cost to move the monument from the Marion County Judicial Center in downtown Ocala
to the park, which is a couple of miles away at Fort King Street and Southeast 25th Avenue.'
Rand Paul surging past GOP Establishment hacks in Kentucky
'The Republican party in Kentucky has never seen anything like it. Bowling Green eye doctor Rand Paul
has no political experience, but with the support of the same people who backed his Dad, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, when
he ran for president. Rand Paul has now at least pulled even with Secretary of State Trey Grayon in the GOP U.S. Senate primary.'
'Governments' malinvestment monuments, the product of politicians meddling in the market, rather than
letting the economy heal are present the world over. Just south of Las Vegas is Hoover Dam, a project authorized by the Boulder
Canyon Project Act of 1928. Normally, dams weren't named for sitting presidents, but Herbert Hoover was campaigning for reelection
and wanted credit for creating the jobs.'
Our friend and pro-South artist and activist Terry Warren and his band 'Border Ruffians' (actually the name
of his old band, however it wasn't changed to 'Proof' for the vote) are up for several awards at the 2009 Southern Heritage
Music Awards. Some other great artists are also listed in the several categories on the page... and you can cast your vote!
Be sure to support artists who support Dixie.
Traditionally, gold and silver have been used as money with copper used for small change. At one time the
US dollar was backed by gold while most change was made of silver and pennies were made of copper. Gold, silver and copper
- that was the traditional monetary standard of the civilised world throughout history. However, those days are gone.
First the Feds took the dollar off the gold standard. Then they took the silver out the quarters and dimes. And finally, they
even took the copper out of pennies. Today, Federal 'money' is basically worth nothing.
'If your Lincoln Memorial
penny has a date before 1982, it is made of 95% copper. If the date is 1983 or later, it is made of 97.5% zinc and plated
with a thin copper coating. For pennies minted in 1982, when both copper and zinc cents were made, the safest and best way
to tell their composition is to weigh them. Copper pennies weigh 3.11 grams, whereas the zinc pennies weigh only 2.5 grams.'
'Government has gone wild. Today, in the land we like to think of as the most free on earth, government
reaches into every level of our lives. It controls and it coerces, it bullies and it brags, it browbeats and it blusters.
It grows and it grows, feeding without restraint on the energy, the talents, the hopes, the fears, and the futures of the
people.'
